time travel.

I honestly don't really think you can call that time travel. Just because you are seeing images of historic architecture restored this does not really count as time travel. You could argue if this is time travel that we have a form of traveling back in time today. With all of the research and images you can find on the internet all ready you could argue that in some ways we can already go "back in time" to some extent. I think this idea of laser images and restoring is so interesting though. The fact that they restored the fountain to look like it did originally is amazing and just goes to show how far we have come in technology. However, just because they can now restore these historic pieces of art or architecture does not mean that we're traveling back in time.

Tomas Brechler-Headead

He is a Graphic Designer from the Czech Republic. He has been designing for the past 23 years. His artwork Evolve was exhibited in a digital art gallery in Bucharest, Romania. He mainly works in Graphic Design and Illustration. He also is experimenting in various fields of digital illustration, typography and graphic design, always trying to discover new ways in the process of creation. Headead, is a psychedelic poster of a head. Its bright colors are appealing to everyone. His posters tend to be upbeat also making them attractive to an audience. He currently resides in Prague in the Czech Republic.

Learn to Fly- Patrick Monkel Patrick is a Freelance Graphic Designer from the Netherlands. He has been designing for over 5 years and is currently employed by a web agency. He specializes in designing flyers, cd covers, and posters. This poster or piece of work is called Learn to Fly. Although the colors are not vibrant, the piece itself seems to pop right off of the page. The typography chosen blends in with the whole piece yet stands out to send you the message. The use of both photographs and vector images gives this poster a very futuristic and graphic feel and works well as a poster image.

Matt Gaser- Morton’s Crawl

I chose this image because I loved how it looked very painterly and almost like an illustration. Matt Gaser graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a degree in Illustration. He interned at Klasky Csupo as a background artist. After graduating he worked for freelancing ad agencies where he worked on commercials such as Hallmark and Got Milk. He then decided to move to the film industry where he worked on the Star Wars TV Show and movies like Eragon. His time here helped him to learn about concept design that related to film. He is currently working on and overseeing the development of an online virtual world called Blue Mars. I really loved his work because of how traditional and painterly they looked.

Glimpse of Summer- Linda Bergkvist

I chose this piece because I liked how it looked like an illustration right out of a children’s book. The artist Linda Bergkvist who goes by her online avatar Enyala did this. This piece was inspired by her summers that were spent in a cabin in the woods with her cat. She enjoyed these days and missed them often. She got really sick and while she had the time she created a new piece of work. She says that this particular piece truly represents her feelings from the time she spent in the cabin. Her other pieces of work have the same painterly feel just usually aren’t as whimsical and fun as this one.

Alberto Seveso- Astro Bonas

He is a graphic designer/illustrator from Italy. This piece of work I found to be very eye catching and interesting. He does a lot of work with photography and layers. This image, Astro Bonas, uses a photograph of a model and layers other photos and advertisements on top of the main photo. He has worked with many famous people such as Michael Phelps and they have been used for magazine covers. His images of Michael Phelps were in ESPN magazine. He mainly works with Illustrator and Photoshop. All of his work features these swirls that make the art more fascinating.

Technology watching your children

I honestly don't think that parents should monitor there kids precise location. I think that just demonstrates how technologically obsessed our society is. If parents constantly have to have an eye on where there children are at all times isn't that taking away a child's freedom? Even if they are young children have to be taught lessons, and by having their parents watch them and know their location at all time, all that is doing is giving them more reason to rebel and not do what there told. Also having something put into your body to look at your childs health is so unnatural. To have something put in your body to track your health is just making american's more lazy as people. I honestly think that monitoring anything of your childs using technology is ridiculous and unnecessary. It's like we can't do anything without technology and I personally think its nonsense.

Avatars.

No Budget, No Boundaries: It's the Real You

As part of our constantly expanding virtual world, it is no surprise that you can now have an avatar online. Some people may say that it is a way that they can actually express themselves, I would beg to differ. Maybe I would be interested in having avatar, it could be fun, but I honestly don't think it is necessary in order to express yourself. In this article multiple people spoke about how by having this virtual self or avatar they could buy nice things and live a life of luxury without spending a fortune. This is true, but some of these websites actually require you to pay a fee so that then they can purchase the virtual items. I don't think I would necessarily pay real money for virtual possessions. I mean there not real. No matter how technologically involved a person is, those items are not real. So I don't think I can really see myself paying money for items that only my virtual avatar can use. Materialism is directly translated into this non-material cyberspace because they have there own brands of luxury items that you can purchase. The people who use this site seem to feel as though if they can't buy the items for real in these tough economic times, they can just buy them for their avatar. Although the items aren't real they still go about their materialistic ways, just not for themselves. Personally I don't think I would put time,money, and effort into making an avatar but I think that it is an interesting concept that has been created. Maybe one day we will all have avatars and be living in a completely virtual world.

I'm just talkin' 'bout my g-g-generation

Technology has changed the way humans live. It has become such a huge part of our lives and our society today. We rely on computers to communicate, do research, work, listen to music, and many more things. So what would I be like if I had never had contact with a computer? I’d say I would be pretty different. One aspect that makes me who I am is all of the music I have. I discover bands and music that hardly anyone has ever heard of. If I had never had a computer I don’t think I would know about nearly as many bands and songs as I do. Another reason I would be a totally different person had I not had a computer is photography. I love taking pictures. But what makes pictures even more fun is putting them on the computer and editing them. So clearly without a computer I would have never to be able to do that. So maybe I wouldn’t enjoy photography, as much had I never been introduced to a computer.

I think the human experience really is changing because of computers and technology and I think it is for both the better and the worse. Computers allow you to do so many things especially in regards to communication. I mean think about how fast you can get in touch with someone with out actually picking up the phone and calling them. You can send them an email, Facebook them, instant message them, or even video chat. This allows for people to keep in touch a lot easier than with just the telephone. It also allows for information to be produced and displayed quicker for people. But it has also opened up a whole new realm of problems too. I mean pretty soon people aren’t going to know how to pick up the phone and have a normal conversation with someone because all they do is email. Or what about all of the cyber bullying that goes on in schools now because kids send threatening messages to others. That was never an issue until this generation.

So I think the computer and new technology has its pros and cons. The human experience is being influenced by technology and in some ways its beneficial and other ways not so much. In all honesty I think it is just a characteristic that makes our generation different from others. All generations have certain elements that make them unlike others. I think ours differs because of technology and computers.
